E-commerce Expected to Invade Global Trade in 2018

The World Trade Organisation predicts that the global economy and trade will continue to grow strongly in 2018. Global economic growth has been unbalanced since the worst years of the financial crisis, but all regions of the world economy are expected to experience a synchronized upturn in 2018 resulting in a 2.8% growth rate. The digital economy has had a positive impact on the global economy and in 2017, cross-border e-commerce accounted for 12% of trade in goods globally.

Recent years have seen remarkable developments in the digital economy, creating unprecedented opportunities for companies to expand their outreach into global markets or enter global markets for the first time. Cross-border e-commerce has opened up a new, more efficient way to connect companies directly to customers and partners around the world, bridging the gap between demand and supply by transforming the landscape of trade and technology.

Cross-border e-commerce also provides a unique opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access global markets. Studies show that SMEs that use online commercial platforms are around five times more likely to export than those in the traditional economy and e-commerce adoption among SMEs is expected to grow to 35% by 2020, driven by the sector’s increasing interest in e-commerce business.

In 2018, the AndersenB2B mission is to provide a commercial platform with essential services needed to ensure that our members are able to scale up and expand their outreach and at the same time reduce the investment required to become visible in the global market. Among them are financing options, promotion packages, legal and financial advisory services, market information and analysis and B2B matchmaking services.
